About URII

Language is where transformation begins.

URII, short for Ubandawaki Redemptive Intervention Initiative, is a faith-based organization working alongside communities in Niger State to preserve their linguistic heritage and turn that work into lasting, tangible change.

Why We Exist

A language without a written form is a community without a record.

Across Nigeria and beyond, countless indigenous languages have never been written down. Without a script, Scripture, education, and local knowledge cannot take root in the language people actually think and pray in. URII partners directly with these communities to build orthographies and dictionaries, and to carry that foundation into education, livelihoods, and health.

We believe preserving a language is not the end goal. It's the starting point for a community to educate its children, build its own economy, and care for its own wellbeing, on its own terms.

Purpose

Our Vision

To build resilient communities that are educated, self-reliant, spiritually grounded, and equipped to drive sustainable development for future generations.

Our Mission

To equip communities with the knowledge, resources, and opportunities needed to overcome poverty, preserve their linguistic heritage, access quality education, and build sustainable livelihoods through locally owned, community-led initiatives.

What We Value

The convictions behind the work.

Community-led

Every programme is designed with the people it serves, not delivered to them from outside.

Integrity

We steward every gift, hour, and partnership with transparency and accountability.

Compassion

We see the whole person: physical, educational, financial, and spiritual well-being together.

Faith-grounded

Our work flows from a conviction that every community and every language carries inherent worth.

Our Team

The people carrying this work.

Our team works directly out of Niger State, spending time in each community long before, during, and after any language work begins.
